Happy beading!
This beading add-on pattern supplement provides color variations for 3D beaded fish. Customers said instructions are "easy to follow" with "excellent photos" and "clear diagrams." The patterns are beginner-friendly and produce "super cute" results. Some shoppers wished directions were included in the supplement file itself, requiring reference to the original pattern.

Clear instructions even without the videos (which I didn't have, since I had an older PDF - now the updated version has videos so just re-download if you're missing them.) Made some very cutie fishes so far and excited to make more! Can't wait to make other things too now that I've learned new techniques :)
Great tutorial, I was a complete novice in beading, and the instruction was clear and easy enough that I was able tp follow even without referring to the videos (there were QR codes provided to video tutorials for each technique; cannot speak to the quality of those as I did not use the resource)
Love my lil beaded fish, it's quite fun experimenting with different color combinations
The instructions are very easy to understand. I made some minor changes, for example I'm using black thread and the head and Body bead is black. I love this Pigeon!
The instructions are very easy to understand. I made some minor changes, for example I'm using black thread and the 6mm head bead is black. I love this bumblebee!
Incredibly easy to understand and follow along. It also includes some video links if you need a visual which is very helpful. I was very intimidated at first but I quickly got the hang of it
Fantastic and clear instructions, even for a beginner. Had many compliments on my lazy duck. Highly recommend!!
¡Me ha gustado mucho! Las indicaciones son muy claras y es muy sencillo de seguir. Ya tengo en la cesta mi siguiente compra!
This is such a cute pattern! I bought it as a bundle with all the extra colour patterns. The pattern is clearly written and it's no problem to follow it as it is. However I made mine using only brickstitch as I thought starting with peyote and then change made it too fiddely.
I ordered only one pattern to make sure they weren't AI (seriously - recently ordered a beading kit that was WILD!). Not AI and totally adorable!
I recently went on a cruise with a friend and they still allow hiding ducks. We're going again next year so I thought it would be fun for us to make a bunch to take with us. I'm so excited at how adorable they are and I'm excited to try more of the patterns that come from the Mind of Julia.
I highly recommend the patterns. There are written instructions, notations and color images showing exactly what to do. I hope you have as much fun as I am!
this is very good, but as a beginner, still very time consuming bc im getting the feeling of everything still :D Love this as a gift idea tho and hope my grandma will love her forever blooming tulips <3 thanks for providing this!
Hi Julia !
I am SO OBSESSED with your patterns, I've already made three bees and I'm planning to make a whole garland of them ! Thank you so much your patterns are amazing and super easy to follow !
FAQs
Is this bead crochet?
No, it's not bead crochet. My designs are made using a mix of different bead weaving techniques like peyote, circular beading, and brick stitch and sometimes even a few of my own methods.
Each pattern includes step-by-step illustrated instructions so you can easily follow along and recreate the piece.
Do you provide video tutorials with the patterns?
All of my patterns come as PDFs with detailed step-by-step illustrations and some of them, including the beaded fish, come with supplementary video tutorials. The videos are linked directly on the PDF pattern.
They’re designed to be as clear and easy to follow as possible.
Where do you find your supplies?
Here's a link to most of the supplies I use in my beading projects.
Some Miyuki 11/0 colors are not available there and need to be sourced on pandahall.com or at your local craft stores.
What beads do you use?
I mostly work with Miyuki Rocailles Seed Beads (not Delicas) in size 11/0, usually in transparent or luster finishes. These beads have a beautiful light reflection and a soft shine that make each piece sparkle just right ✨
Other brands like Toho also work great, as long as the rocailles beads are very uniform in size and shape.
What thread do you use?
I use Miyuki 330 dtex 100% nylon thread.
Here are a few great alternatives I also like:
- KO (made by Miyuki) or One-G (by Toho)
- Nymo
- FireLine or DuraThread
Whatever you choose, make sure the thread is thin enough to pass through your beads several times and strong enough not to fray easily.
What beading needle do you use?
I use Miyuki Beading Needles (0.35x51mm) but any standard beading needles do the job!
Which pattern should I start with as a beginner?
I recommend starting with the Beaded Fish or Mini Fish pattern. These include detailed step‑by‑step instructions and several supplementary videos that walk you through the basic stitches used in my other beading patterns, so they are a very beginner‑friendly introduction.
Can I sell the creations I make with your patterns?
Yes, absolutely, you can sell the finished pieces you make using my patterns.
All I ask is that you don’t resell, redistribute, or share the patterns themselves (including screenshots or copies), and please credit the design to me if someone asks where it’s from 🌸
Is mindofjulia the same person as handsofjulia?
Yes, it’s the same person: me, Julia. ☀️mindofjulia is the name I use for my educational content, and handsofjulia is the name I use for my handcrafts and beading patterns. I’m gradually moving all handcraft‑related things under the handsofjulia name so it’s easier to recognize my shop and patterns.
